Pain Treatment
Pain now has a solution.
Hospital Pain Treatment Unit.
After a thorough diagnosis, the professionals at Viten’s Hospital Pain Unit will establish an effective strategy to design a treatment plan aimed at restoring, as far as possible, the patient’s physical and emotional wellbeing — “life as it used to be”, when pain was not part of everyday life.
Our mission in this area is to approach each treatment in a way that helps patients set pain aside, or at least reduce it, so they can recover their quality of life.
When should you visit a Pain Unit?
After a comprehensive diagnosis, the professionals at Viten’s Hospital Pain Unit will design a personalised strategy with the aim of restoring the patient’s physical and emotional wellbeing. Our goal is to help each patient recover what we often call “life as it used to be” — a time when pain was not part of their daily routine.
Our mission in this area is to approach each case comprehensively, focusing on reducing pain or even helping patients set it aside, so they can regain their quality of life and return to their daily activities as normally as possible.
At the Pain Unit, we mainly treat patients suffering from:
- Spinal conditions: lower back pain, neck pain, upper back pain, sciatica, post-surgical back pain or failed back syndrome, radiculopathies, among others.
- Spinal canal stenosis: sciatica and sacral pain.
- Myofascial pain.
- Muscle pain: persistent contractures that have not responded to conventional treatments.
- Neuropathic pain: diabetic neuropathy, peripheral neuropathies, post-herpetic neuralgia, trigeminal neuralgia and complex regional pain syndrome.
- Fibromyalgia, arthritis and osteoarthritis: especially affecting the spine, shoulders, hips and knees.
- Pain control in oncology patients.
Pain Treatment Team
The unit is made up of an anaesthesiologist specialised in pain treatments — also known as a pain specialist or algologist — together with neurosurgeons, traumatologists, rehabilitation doctors, physiotherapists, psychologists, oncologists, rheumatologists and other healthcare professionals.
